Managing your devices (Fan Pro)

How the 2-device limit works, where to see your active devices, and how to free up a slot when you get a new phone.

For: Fan Pro subscribers

Fan Pro lets you stay connected to events on up to two devices at once — your phone and a tablet, for example. This article explains how that limit works, how to see which devices are registered, and what to do when you need to add a third.

How the 2-device limit works

Every time you sign in to NextSet, your browser or device is registered as an active session. Fan Pro accounts can have two active sessions at any time. If you try to sign in on a third device while both slots are full, you'll see a "Device limit reached" message and won't be able to proceed until you free up a slot.

This limit only applies to Fan Pro accounts. Standard fan accounts have no device cap.

Viewing your active devices

Your active devices are listed in your account settings — the Devices section under your profile. Each entry shows:

  • The device type and browser
  • When it was last active
  • Whether it is the device you are currently using (marked as "this device")

Sign in at nextset.ca/login and head to your account settings to see the list.

Freeing up a slot — revoking a device

If you want to add a new device and are already at the limit, revoke one of the existing sessions from the Devices section of your account settings:

  1. Open your account settings and go to Devices.
  2. Find the device you want to remove — look for one that's listed as inactive or that you no longer own.
  3. Tap or click Revoke next to that device.
  4. The slot clears immediately. You can now sign in on your new device.

You can revoke any device except the one you are currently using to view the settings page. To remove the current device, sign in on another registered device first, then revoke the old one from there.

The 30-day auto-release

You don't always have to revoke manually. If a device hasn't been used for 30 days, NextSet automatically clears it from your active sessions. The slot becomes available the next time you sign in anywhere.

This means:

  • A phone you lent to someone and got back will eventually drop off on its own.
  • A device you sold or lost will be cleared after 30 days without any action from you.

If you want to free the slot sooner — for example, right after selling a phone — revoke it manually using the steps above. Don't wait for the auto-release if you want access immediately.

Signing out vs. revoking

Signing out of the NextSet app on a device closes your session but does not immediately remove the device registration. The device slot stays counted until:

  • You revoke it manually in account settings, or
  • It auto-releases after 30 days of no activity.

If you are signing out of a device you no longer own, go to account settings and revoke it rather than just signing out.

Common problems

"Device limit reached" when signing in on a new phone. Your two device slots are both taken. Go to your account settings on an existing registered device, open Devices, and revoke one. Once revoked, try signing in again on the new phone.

Old phone is still listed after I sold it. It will drop off automatically after about 30 days without activity. If you want to clear it right now, open account settings on your current device, find the old phone in the Devices list, and tap Revoke.

I only have one phone but I see two devices listed. The second entry may be a browser tab or a different browser on the same phone, or a device you used briefly and forgot about. Check the "last active" time on each entry. Revoke any you don't recognise.

Revoking a device didn't free up a slot right away. The change takes effect immediately — try signing in on the new device again. If you still see the limit message, reload the page on the new device and try once more.
