Updating your payment method

How to add or change the card on your NextSet subscription using the billing portal.

For: Subscribers

You can update your card and other billing details at any time through the NextSet billing portal — a secure, self-service page powered by Stripe. No need to contact support.

Open the billing portal

  1. Sign in to your NextSet account and go to your Account page (usually at the top-right menu under your name or avatar).
  2. Find the Billing or Subscription section and click Manage billing (or Billing portal).
  3. NextSet will redirect you to a secure Stripe page. Everything you do there is handled directly by Stripe — your full card number is never stored on NextSet's servers.

Add or replace a payment method

Once you are inside the billing portal:

  1. Look for the Payment methods section.
  2. Click Add payment method to enter a new card.
  3. Fill in your card number, expiry date, and CVC, then save.
  4. If you have more than one card saved, you can set any of them as the default — this is the card that will be charged at your next renewal.
  5. You can remove old cards once you have set a new default.

Update your billing details

Still inside the billing portal, you can also:

  • Change your billing name or address — click the edit icon next to your billing information.
  • Update your email for invoices — Stripe sends receipts to the billing email attached to your account. You can update it here without changing your NextSet login email.

When you are done, click Return to NextSet (or just close the tab) and you will land back on your account page.

Download past invoices

The billing portal lists your recent invoices. Click any invoice to open a printable page, or download it as a PDF — handy for expense reports.

Common problems

I don't see a "Manage billing" button. The billing portal only appears if you have an active or past subscription. If you are on a free trial or have never subscribed, there is no billing account yet — subscribe to a plan first and the button will appear.

I added a new card but my subscription still shows the old one. After adding the card, make sure you click Set as default next to the new card inside the portal. The default is the card charged at renewal; simply saving a new card does not automatically switch the default.

My card was declined when I tried to save it. Double-check that the card number, expiry date, and CVC are correct, and that the billing address matches what your bank has on file. If it still fails, try a different card or contact your bank to confirm the card is authorised for online transactions.

The portal page won't load. Try opening the billing portal link in a fresh browser tab or a private/incognito window. If it still fails, clear your browser cache and try again. The portal link is single-use — if you waited a few minutes, go back to your NextSet account page and click Manage billing again to get a fresh link.

My invoice shows a charge I don't recognise. Each invoice line describes the plan period it covers (for example, "NextSet Fan Pro — 1 Jul to 31 Jul"). If something still looks wrong, email support@nextset.ca with the invoice number and we will look into it.
